Three top officials have been suspended in Tanzania as a result of a government probe into the circulation of fake HIV drugs in the country, BBC News reports. The health ministry was alerted in August to problems with a batch of antiretroviral drugs at the Tarime District Hospital. Produced by the Tanzania Pharmaceutical Industry, the batch was recalled and tested, which revealed that it was substandard. Of the 12,000 bottles in the batch, 9,570 have been successfully recalled so far. Analysts blame widespread corruption in the East African country for the substandard production.
