The HIV epidemic in Swaziland may have begun to stabilize in the past few years, according to the Swaziland HIV Incidence Measurement Survey and reported by Medical News Today. The multiphase study was designed to evaluate the impact of HIV prevention and treatment services in the country. The findings, which were presented at the XIX International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC, indicate that the national rate of new HIV cases among adults ages 18 to 49 years old is 2.38 percent. In 2009, UNAIDS put estimates at 2.66 percent of Swaziland adults ages 15 to 49.
