The U.S. Department of the Navy has begun assigning HIV-positive sailors and Marines to U.S. military installations overseas, Stars and Stripes reports. The move comes more than a year after a policy change was made to allow such assignments. The Army still prohibits soldiers with HIV from being stationed outside the country. The Air Force allows active-duty airmen with HIV to apply for a waiver if the receiving units can provide appropriate health care.
