Under programs supported by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, 5.3 million people are receiving antiretroviral (ARV) treatment as of July, according to a Global Fund statement. The increase of 1.1 million people since late 2012 getting ARVs can be attributed to improvements in grant management in Nigeria and Malawi, as well as increased coverage of ARVs for new patients in Zimbabwe.
