The New York City–based Ali Forney Center (AFC) has found a temporary home for its daytime-only drop-in center for homeless LGBT youth that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, according to an AFC statement. The previous location in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan has been relocated to the LGBT Community Center in Greenwich Village until the opening of a new 24-hour drop-in center in Harlem, which was already going to open in a few months. AFC can now continue providing essential services to its clients, such as food, clothing, showers, medical care and HIV testing.
