Delegates and speakers at the XVIII International AIDS Conference (IAC) in Vienna are calling on global leaders to commit at least $20 billion to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria at the fund’s replenishment meeting in October, according to an IAC statement. The replenishment meeting will set grant levels from 2011 to 2013. Participants also asked leaders for new financing mechanisms and more private sector support. Plus, they requested that African nations spend at least 15 percent of their national budgets on health.
