Rent, the 1994 Broadway musical by Jonathan Larson, will be revived off-Broadway in June 2011, the New York Post reports. The show, which closed in 2008 after more than 5,000 performances, will be staged by the original director, but will open with a new production, different sets and a cast of unknowns. The musical’s storyline of young New Yorkers struggling in the city and dealing with HIV/AIDS garnered it four Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
