The World Bank has selected Jim Yong Kim, MD, PhD, as its president, The New York Times reports. Kim is currently president of Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Previously, he was chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, cofounder and executive director of Partners in Health, and director of the Department of HIV/AIDS at the World Health Organization. Kim said he will keep a broad mandate for the World Bank that will follow evidence-based solutions over ideology and will draw on expertise and experience from developing countries.
