Last July, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) issued a revised set of guidelines for HIV treatment (see “Guiding Light?” POZ, November 2003). Just four months later, the feds revised those revisions, adding info on a few new drugs, expanding the list of “Antiretroviral Regimens or Components That Should Not Be Offered At Any Time” and labeling combos “Preferred” or “Alternative.” There are also new guidelines for pediatric treatment and mother-to-child transmission.
